The word blockers is a relatively new term used when someone uses methods to ensure or prevent someone having sex. By saying something derogatory or uncomfortable to ensure the event never happens. The movie Blockers is about a group of parents who are determined to stop their daughters from having sex on prom night after they catch wind of their plan to lose their virginity. The girls have all been friends since elementary school and want to move swiftly to adulthood but their parents want them to remain safe and innocent for as long as possible. So together the parents launch a one night supposedly covert operation to try to ensure that their daughters virginity stays intact. That is the plot in a nutshell without divulging too much.
Now the problems are that the film in most parts is just not funny and John Cena is just not a comedic actor. The movie falls flat with silly jokes we have all heard before and the same old story about how awkward it is to have the “ talk “ about the birds and the bees when your kids come of age. But the film isn’t all bad and there are some funny moments but this unfortunately doesn’t break the sad run of bad comedies out there at the moment.
The DVD has too many special features to mention such as deleted scenes, a gag reel and John Cena’s prom survival kit for parents. The main feature runs for 99 minutes and is rated PG16 for drugs, language, nudity and sex. Blockers is now available through Next and Empire Home Entertainment and available to purchase at your nearest Musica store.
