Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle

When any movie opens with the iconic Guns n Roses track Welcome to the Jungle you just know you are going to be in for a bumpy ride and if you take the movie with a pinch of salt then that is exactly what you are going to get. If you recall the original movie starring Robin Williams you will remember that four teenagers get pulled into a video game after finding an old video game console. Once they decide to play they get drawn into the world of Jumanji in the bodies of their avatars. While there they have to complete the game and try to save the island from destruction and if they don’t complete the game they run the risk of being stuck in the game forever. Well this movie is exactly the same as the original but with more special effects and CGI included. Something that wasn’t around when the original was released. Instead of Robin Williams we have the Rock ( Dwayne Johnson ) in the lead role, so definitely an improvement in the physical side of things. The rest of the crew is made up with Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan. There is also a cameo role from Nick Jonas who stars as a guy who has been in the game for a long time and just can’t seem to get out.

The film is great family fun so if you might have been too young to remember the original then there is no reason why you won’t enjoy this one as a stand-alone film. The DVD has plenty of special features to enjoy including a gag reel, interviews with the cast and a couple of featurettes on how the movie was made. The main feature runs for 114 minutes and is ratedPG13 for violence. Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle is now available through Ster Kinekor Home Entertainment.
