Number 33 The day we met Foreigner. With hits like I Want to Know What Love is, Jukebox Hero and Waiting for a Girl Like You, Foreigner are one of the best selling bands of all time. Led by guitarist and founder member Mick Jones the band toured South Africa in November 2007 doing shows in Cape Town and Johannesburg as part of their 30th Anniversary world tour. Vocalist on most of their big hits, Lou Gramm, had already left the band in 1990 but re-joined a couple of years later only to be forced to leave again due to ill health and a fall out with Jones.

 

After several lineup changes and solo albums Jones finally settled on Kelly Hansen as the lead vocalist and he remains in the band to this day. Undoubtedly one of my favorite rock bands we got this photo opportunity backstage at Carnival City just before they were due to go on stage. I never got the opportunity to see them perform with Lou Gramm but Kelly Hansen was very similar in sound and style and a good night was had by all.
